A Funeral That Became a Harvest
In many parts of the world, funerals are moments of sorrow, reflection, and remembrance. But in the Kingdom of God, even a moment of loss can become a powerful opportunity for life, hope, and transformation. Recently, in central Kenya, a funeral became something far greater—a moment of extraordinary spiritual harvest.
In March, Pastor Gregory, a YLF trainer, officiated the funeral of Pastor Abraham. Their story goes back many years. In 2008, Gregory had the privilege of leading Abraham to faith in Jesus Christ. Over time, Abraham became a committed servant of the Lord and a respected pastor in his community. Just recently, Abraham had participated in one of our You Last Forever (YLF) virtual training sessions, continuing his journey of spiritual growth and leadership.
When Abraham passed away, Gregory was asked to conduct the funeral service. What unfolded that day revealed once again how God can work through even the most difficult moments.

Standing beside Gregory were three of his newest disciples— who themselves had recently come to Christ from a Muslim background. These courageous new believers had been discipled through Gregory’s ministry and the You Last Forever training. They were not merely attending the funeral; they were participating in the work of the Gospel.
Together, they distributed YLF cards and booklets to those attending the service. More importantly, they shared the message of salvation boldly with those gathered. What began as a funeral soon became an evangelistic outreach.
As Gregory preached and the disciples ministered, many in attendance responded to the Gospel message. By the end of the service, the three disciples carefully counted those who raised their hands to receive Christ. Their total came to 278 people who made professions of faith that day.
Pastor Gregory believes the true number may actually be higher.
What makes this even more remarkable is the context. These three new disciples are Muslim converts who also minister boldly at home in the middle of their local Muslim community. Their courage to proclaim the Gospel publicly is both inspiring and humbling. At the same time, their boldness reminds us to pray earnestly for their protection as they continue sharing Christ in a challenging environment.
The impact of the day did not stop with those who came to faith.
Among the funeral attendees were 120 pastors, many of whom witnessed firsthand the effectiveness of the You Last Forever evangelism approach. Inspired by what they saw and heard, these pastors requested YLF training for themselves and their churches. A training event is now tentatively scheduled for May, where these leaders will be equipped to carry the Gospel message even further throughout the region.
For Pastor Gregory, this moment carries deep personal significance. As a former Muslim who came to faith in Christ, Gregory has spent years praying that God would open hearts in his community and make it easier for people to believe the Gospel and enter the Kingdom of God.
Gregory recently shared that he sees You Last Forever as the answer to those prayers—a tool God is using to equip believers, empower disciples, and multiply evangelists across communities that have long been resistant to the Gospel.
A funeral that could have been marked only by grief became a celebration of eternal life.
A pastor who once shared the Gospel with one man in 2008 now sees hundreds coming to Christ through the ripple effect of discipleship.
And three new believers—once part of a different faith tradition—are now boldly leading others into the Kingdom of God.
This is the power of the Gospel.
This is the fruit of disciples making disciples.
And this is why the mission continues.
